Sonic Bloom 2017: The Unified Field Flourishes

Kicking off the summer festival season in Colorado this year, Sonic Bloom Festival returned for the 12th annual celebration of the “Unified Field”, Dubbed by Jamie Janover for its likeness to the access and use of free energies, this festival feels like home every time we return. For the third year in it’s new home, Hummingbird Ranch transformed into a blooming city of tents, art and transformational music. Blessing us with memories to cherish for a lifetime, fresh music performances and creativity across all mediums, the Sonic Bloom community came together with a weekend full of amazing people. Musicians, artists and fans alike, this festival provided the space for everyone to co-create for 4 magical days.

MHSM Artists at Sonic Bloom 2017

MHSM co-founder, ProJect Aspect welcomed us to the weekend of fun on Thursday at the Hummingbird Stage. Debuting his new EP “Cortex”, he would have blown the roof off if there had been one. Dropping one of the sickest sets of the weekend, his performance was original and hyphy. His new sounds combined with his masterful abilities of improv during his live set, made for an unforgettable experience. Kruza Kid also joined him on stage for a song, sharing his lyrical talent with the crowd.

Unlimited Gravity took over the Hummingbird stage after him. Also debuting his new EP “Choose Your Direction,” this set was packed with high energy, hardcore glitch hop beats. Throwing down the glitchiest dub sounds infused with classical piano his set gave the audience all the feels. Next they brought up Steven Kuzma on a drum pad, to form the Unlimited Aspect band, the trio closed out the stage in raging fashion. Read More

EarthCry Enlightens Listeners Through His Modular Musical Realm

‘Sun Path’ is the latest solo album released by EarthCry— Anthony Thogmartin, Papadosio’s lyricist brainchild, producer, and guitarist. More than just a musical side project, Sun Path, is the second album in a progressive project dedicated to the fusion of experimental electronic music and an earth-minded movement. What’s truly unique about SunPath is Thogmartin’s exploration of the modular synthesizer. By manipulating the analog electric signal, it was possible to experiment and create vast organic and flowing sonic sounds. Representing Thogmartin’s own personal growth and journey to inspire, “sun path”, is a reference to the positional changes of the sun and solar energy that is emitted as our Earth rotates and orbits around the sun.

The sound of Sun Path can be described as visceral, soulful, and eclectic with a down-tempo mediterranean feel, catchy glitch-hop and funk elements, and seamless airy melodies. In addition to the electronic elements in the production of the album, Thogmartin, collaborated with a handful of musicians to incorporate indigenous instrumentation including flutes, djembes, tabla, and voiceover samples. Sun Path’s progressive and experimental union between electronic production via modular synths, and organic sounds through instrumentation and sampling is a truly a glimpse into the promising future and synthesis of music and technology.

EarthCry is performing in Denver at the MetLife Rooftop today, Monday evening August 8th. For more info click here. Read More
