ARISE Music Festival 2017 – MHSM Recap & Review

The 5th year of the Arise Music Festival was a magical experience for all in attendance. Fulfilling their schedule packed with music, transformational workshops, a weekend long hangout with incredible people, the festival stepped above and beyond our expectations. The rain didn’t dampen any of our spirits, and luckily we only experienced a few scattered showers throughout the whole weekend.

The beginning of most festivals starts out the same, everyone is in a hurry to get there for the fun, then we have to wait for hours in line just to get in and set up camp. The staff at Arise this year was fully prepared to make the expected horrendous wait quick and efficient. Usually having to wait a couple hours to figure out what’s going on to get in at most festivals, this years’ wait was under an hour for the early Friday arrivers. A fury of campers unloaded their camps, popped up tents, threw out their chairs and kicked back to wait for the Friday lineup to begin.

MHSM Artists at Sonic Bloom 2017

MHSM co-founder, ProJect Aspect welcomed us to the weekend of fun on Thursday at the Hummingbird Stage. Debuting his new EP “Cortex”, he would have blown the roof off if there had been one. Dropping one of the sickest sets of the weekend, his performance was original and hyphy. His new sounds combined with his masterful abilities of improv during his live set, made for an unforgettable experience. Kruza Kid also joined him on stage for a song, sharing his lyrical talent with the crowd.

Unlimited Gravity took over the Hummingbird stage after him. Also debuting his new EP “Choose Your Direction,” this set was packed with high energy, hardcore glitch hop beats. Throwing down the glitchiest dub sounds infused with classical piano his set gave the audience all the feels. Next they brought up Steven Kuzma on a drum pad, to form the Unlimited Aspect band, the trio closed out the stage in raging fashion. Read More

3 New ProJect Aspect Tracks To Get You Ready For Festival Season

Project Aspect, Co-Founder of The Mile High Sound Movement, out does himself with every new authentic track. Setting the bar high for fellow electronic producers, his new EP ‘Cortex’ is a musical journey for your ears and soul. Blending vocals with original sounds each song brings you to a new level. Staying true to his unique style, each song features a collection of genres ranging from drum and bass, glitch hop, dubstep and overall high quality bass. He takes the sounds he creates, layers them a multitude of ways in each track, and ultimately surprises you towards the end of each song with the most creative sounds imaginable. Each song contains new sounds that you have never heard before, and he refines them into the most party acceptable drops, leaving you feeling like you have just heard a miracle in your ears.

The first track “Vortex Complex” is a mix of space vibe sounds, upbeat drum and bass, and sucks you into the vortex of glitch. The use of higher pitched tubular sounds, slow-mo vocals, and different space between each sound blends perfectly to bring you to the vortex for every second of the song. Second on the EP, “Cheddar Cheese & Ice Cream” blends the vocals of Lyric Lee with mechanical sounds into a smooth experience. These unique sounds come back throughout the song but each time a little bit differently, giving a new genre feel for each segment. “Dime on my Nine,” the third track, starts out slow, pulling you in with a trippy future Egyptian vibe. Blending each of the elements of this high energy song masterfully, you’ve got to hang on until the end. Around the 4:00 minute mark, the build up leads into a drop and the final segment of the song, that should go down in the history of electronic music as one of the best.

Sonic Bloom is this weekend, be sure to catch Project Aspect for his set at the Hummingbird Stage on Thursday night at 12:00AM. And, stick around after his set for Unlimited Gravity at 1:00AM. Both will be debuting their new EPs. Read More
